Background History

Samakal Samaj Unnayan Sangstha is a Bangladeshi local non-profitable development organization established since 1986 with the assistance of different National and International donor Organization of different type of awareness rising, education, climate adoption, Primary health care, disaster risk reduction, campaign for different current issue and Socio-Economic development for the poor, underprivileged, vulnerable, powerless, disable, women and to make them more capable to establish their Civic, economic, social rights and to enhance capacity building for their food security and A ailment of opportunity. Initially the aim of the organization was to make aware the landless and marginal farmers about the improved technology of farming. Subsequently the organization initiated activities against social injustice, indiscrimination against women, polygamy, dowry, child marriage, inequity and to establish just society. Maybe this offers can assist you. Till 1991 the organization has been implementing its different activities in the name of “Krishi Club’’ depending on the local resources. But later on it was named as Samakal Samaj Unnayan Sangstha (S-SUS) means simultaneously community development organization, when it has turned its approach of working with the underprivileged people for improving their Socio-economic status through empowerment and human development. Firstly it has started to work for the Socio- economic development of the heart stricken people of this area with the financial assistance of Community Aid abroad Australia.


Now a day a couple of National and International donor agency are continuing financial and technical assistance. During the subsequent yearly SSUS had been implementing different activities likes skill development training, life skill development training i.e. awareness, income generation activities and training, Non-formal education, climate adaptation, campaigning for different issue, disaster risk reduction etc. through organization the backward, distressed, landless, river erosion and flood effected poor people both man and women in Pirgonj, Mithapukur, Pirgacha, Taragonj and Gongachara upzilla of Rangpur district and Sundargonj upazilla of Gaibandha district with the support from the Donor agency Andhari hilf-Germany, Misereor-Germany, Oxfam-GB, Practical action, ROSC, Women Affairs Department government of Bangladesh, Bangladesh NGO foundation during the years SSUS has now turned into center of different development activities in the area.
